Philip Longley on the Northern Beaches coastline
Liberal Candidate for Wakehurst

A Local Fighter with Global Experience

Three generations of my family have called the Northern Beaches home. I'm standing for Wakehurst to deliver the integrity, hard work, and real results our community deserves.

Wakehurst, Northern Beaches
What I'll fight for

Real priorities for Wakehurst

My plan focuses on two fronts: fixing what matters locally, and reforming what holds our state back.

Safer roads

I'll keep the Wakehurst Parkway open and flood-resilient, and finish the Mona Vale Road upgrades, so we're never cut off from our hospital when it rains.

Protect our coast

I'll defend our beaches, bushland, and local character from high-rise overdevelopment and the pressure on our waterways.

Health and aged care

I'll fight for properly staffed local hospitals and a fair deal for the older residents who built our community.

Cost of living and housing

I'll work to ease the squeeze on families by tackling wasteful spending, red tape, and the taxes that make housing unaffordable.

Small business and jobs

I'll champion the local businesses, startups, and innovators who create opportunity right here in Wakehurst.

Faith, family and education

I'll safeguard our schools' independence and back the policies that strengthen families and community life.

About me

The Beaches has always been my family's home

My grandfather built our family home on the Northern Beaches after returning from the Second World War, and we've been part of the fabric of this community ever since.

My sister balances a career as a corporate lawyer with volunteering as a surf lifesaver. My mum pastors at a local Baptist church, and my father is a former government minister and public servant. My wider family work locally as nurses, teachers, and members of the Australian Defence Force.

It's where I learned that real leadership starts with integrity, hard work, and a willingness to serve.

My experience

From the world stage to the Northern Beaches

I've advised governments, regulators, and global institutions from Canberra to London, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan. I've led national campaigns for more than 115,000 members of Engineers Australia, and driven reform across some of the largest schemes in New South Wales.

Now I'm bringing that experience home, to fight for the community my family has always called home.

A record of delivery

My track record

A career built on integrity, leadership, and getting things done, here and around the world.

Workers Insurance Association

As Director of Government Relations, I lead practical reform in one of the largest insurance schemes in New South Wales.

Engineers Australia

As Head of Government Relations, I represented more than 115,000 members, campaigning for better infrastructure, roads, and skills.

Q1Gov

As a Director, I delivered national and international advisory campaigns for governments and corporations, with calm under pressure in a crisis.

My journey

A life of service and delivery

Northern Beaches roots

Three generations at home on the Beaches

I was raised in a family of public servants, lifesavers, nurses, and teachers, where service was simply expected.

Global career

From Canberra to the world

I took senior roles across finance, engineering, public policy, and regulatory reform, advising governments from London to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan.

2021

Northern Beaches Campaign Director

I led the local campaign to favourable swings of six percent or more across key wards, proving that disciplined organisation and a strong ground game cut through.

Local advocate

Standing with our local Liberals

I've campaigned alongside our local members, including Rob Stokes, James Griffin, Tim James, Matt Cross, and Jason Falinski, always focused on service and good ideas.

Today

Candidate for Wakehurst

I'm bringing my global experience and local conviction home, to fight for the community I love. Wakehurst is now home, shared with my partner Julie.

Here in Wakehurst

My plan to fix what matters locally

The everyday issues that decide whether our community thrives.

01

I'll keep the Wakehurst Parkway open

I'll floodproof the Parkway so we're never cut off from Northern Beaches Hospital when it rains, and complete the Mona Vale Road upgrades for safer journeys.

02

I'll protect our coast and bushland

I'll oppose high-rise overdevelopment and protect our coastline, waterways, and bushland from erosion, preserving the local character that makes the Beaches special.

03

I'll restore confidence in local health

I'll push for full staffing in our hospitals and advocate for aged care reform so our seniors get the care they deserve.

04

I'll improve public transport

I'll fight to improve B-Line reliability so the buses our community depends on actually turn up, on time.

05

I'll back small business and jobs

I'll champion local businesses, startups, and innovators to create opportunity and keep our high streets thriving.

06

I'll support faith, family and education

I'll safeguard our schools' independence and support policies that strengthen families and community life.

At the state level

Reforming what holds our state back

Real economic reform so families, retirees, and small businesses can get ahead.

I'll phase out stamp duty

I'll push to reform the taxes that punish families and retirees for moving home or downsizing, so people aren't locked out of the market.

I'll cut payroll tax

I'll work to ease the burden on employers so small businesses can grow, hire locally, and invest in their future.

I'll demand responsible spending

I'll fight to rein in waste and excessive regulation so every dollar works harder for the people of Wakehurst.

How I'll work

Community first representation

Wakehurst deserves strong local representation that stands for something, not politics for its own sake. That means being seen, known, and trusted: at our beaches, sports clubs, schools, and events, every week, not just at election time.

I'll be available, approachable, and in the community, with a campaign built on local presence and a genuine plan to deliver.
